Troop 1333 Scouts, Scouters, and Parents:

The Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America is about half way through this year’s Friends of Scouting (FOS) Campaign.  FOS is the Council’s single largest source of funding for the Scouting program in our area.  Funds generated in this Campaign are used to supplement income received from the United Way, program fees, and the trust fund.

With the success of the Campaign largely dependent upon the generous donations from the families of our Scouts, your generous support for this year’s Campaign is requested.  As a Friend of Scouting, you will join the more than 13,000 families, community leaders and businesses that give generously to ensure our boys continue to have quality Scouting programs.

The Council helps make Troop 1333’s Scouting program a success by providing an outstanding professional staff, a service center with satellite offices, first-class camps, activities, and training opportunities.  Our Troop leaders rely on Council resources such as program helps and experienced professional Scouters to ensure your son's experience is fun and leads to achievements that benefit him throughout his life.  This link will lead you to more information that fully explains each source of income, how the money is spent, and what services are provided to our Troop:  Sam Houston Area Friends of Scouting

We will kick off Troop 1333’s annual FOS Campaign at Sunday’s Court of Honor (May 21) at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Please consider supporting the local Scouting efforts through a financial donation.  We will provide an opportunity for you to make your tax deductible pledge or contribution at the COH.  Please note that if you may choose to make a pledge only on Sunday and spread out your payments throughout the remainder of the year should you find it more convenient to give a little bit every month rather than a larger sum at one time.

In order to maintain support for the Scouting program, the Sam Houston Area Council spends approximately $105 per registered Scout per year above and beyond national registration fees and local unit expenses.  Accordingly, our Troop’s contribution goal to the FOS Campaign this year is $6,800, which represents a $100 contribution per registered Scout.  Of course, donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.  Our Council has long been regarded as one of the best Scouting organizations in the nation, and generous donations from families in our area make it possible for the Council to continue providing a quality Scouting experience not only for our boys, but also for less fortunate boys who are not always exposed to the positive influences that Scouting programs provide.

Thank you for your consideration of this request.  If you have any questions, please call me at 281-221-0928.  Together, we can continue to deliver the quality programs that our boys deserve.
